Mozzarella in Carrozza
Naples' beloved fried mozzarella sandwich — mozzarella in carrozza means "mozzarella in a carriage", referring to the bread casing. A thick slice of mozzarella sandwiched between two slices of white bread, dipped in egg and breadcrumbs, then fried until the bread is golden and the mozzarella inside is completely melted. Sometimes with anchovy. Pure indulgence.
