Everything you need to know about our Canadian tax calculator
Our tax calculator uses 2026 federal and provincial brackets, CPP, EI and credit amounts for all 13 Canadian provinces and territories. It includes federal tax (14-33%), provincial tax (varies by province), CPP/CPP2 contributions ($4,646.45 max), EI premiums ($1,123.07 max), and QPIP for Quebec residents. Results are an estimate: provincial credits are approximated, and the Ontario surtax and health premium are not yet included, so check your return against CRA's own calculator before filing.

Our calculator includes comprehensive features for complete tax planning:
Calculations use 2026 rates and are an estimate, not tax advice.
Yes, with limits. The calculator applies Quebec's provincial brackets (14%, 19%, 24%, 25.75%), QPIP (0.430% employee rate) and Quebec's lower EI rate (1.30% vs 1.63% elsewhere). It does not yet apply the 16.5% federal Quebec abatement or QPP's higher rate, so treat Quebec results as an estimate. All Quebec-specific calculations are automatically applied when you select QC as your province. Includes Quebec Abatement, provincial credits, and QPP contributions.
Use our built-in Tax Strategy Optimizer (click "Run Optimizer" button after calculating). It analyzes your income, tax brackets, and contribution room to recommend optimal RRSP amounts. The optimizer can identify opportunities to drop tax brackets, maximize deductions, and save $1,000-$5,000+ annually. For 2026, RRSP limit is 18% of prior year income up to $33,810. The calculator also tracks your remaining contribution room and shows potential savings in real-time.
FHSA (First Home Savings Account) is a registered account for first-time home buyers introduced in 2023. You can contribute $8,000 annually (plus $8,000 carryforward = $16,000 max first year). Our calculator tracks your FHSA room, shows tax savings from contributions, and the optimizer recommends optimal FHSA vs RRSP allocation. FHSA offers triple benefits: (1) tax deduction on contribution, (2) tax-free growth, (3) tax-free withdrawal for home purchase. Lifetime limit: $40,000.
Yes! Switch to "Tax Assessment" mode to calculate refund/owing. Enter your year-to-date income, federal tax paid, provincial tax paid, CPP paid, and EI paid. The calculator determines if you will receive a refund or owe money based on estimated year-end income and deductions. Perfect for mid-year tax planning or preparing for tax season. Shows exact refund amount or payment due with breakdown.
